Auscounts privacy policy

Version 2026-09-15-3

PRIVACY POLICY Auscounts — operated by Living Rain Pty Ltd (ABN 32 123 848 984) trading as Auscounts ("Auscounts", "us", "we", "our") We are committed to handling personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and disclose it, and how you can access or correct it. This policy should be read together with our Terms and Conditions. 1. What we collect Account information: name, email address, and login credentials when you register. Your financial records: the bookkeeping and accounting data you enter or upload into the App ("Your Data"). This may include transaction details, invoices, contact details of your clients or suppliers, and similar business records. We do not ask for or want more of this than the App needs to function. Usage and technical information: log data, IP address, device and browser information, and how you interact with the App, collected automatically to help us run and secure the service. Communications: anything you send us, e.g. support requests or feedback. We collect personal information directly from you where practical. If we collect it from another source (for example, a payment processor once paid tiers launch), we will tell you where reasonably possible. 2. Why we collect and use it We use personal information to: - provide, operate, and maintain the App; - authenticate you and secure your account; - provide support and respond to your enquiries; - diagnose and fix bugs (relevant during the current beta period); - send you service-related communications, such as changes to these policies, the Terms, or security notices; - let you know about new features, product updates, or paid tiers that may be relevant to you; - comply with our legal obligations. We do not use Your Data (i.e. the bookkeeping and accounting records you enter into the App) for advertising, and we do not sell personal information or Your Data to third parties for marketing or any other purpose. You can opt out of non-essential communications, such as product updates and paid-tier promotions, at any time (for example, via an unsubscribe link or your account settings). We will still send you essential service communications, such as security notices or changes to these policies, even if you opt out. 3. Who we disclose it to We may disclose personal information to: - infrastructure and hosting providers that store and run the App, including its database and content-delivery infrastructure — some of these providers are located overseas, including in the United States (see "Overseas disclosure" below); - other service providers who help us operate the App (for example, email delivery for account and support communications); - payment processors, once paid tiers are introduced, to process payment for those tiers; - regulators, law enforcement, or courts, where required or authorised by law; - artificial intelligence for processing images and data; - a purchaser, if we sell or transfer all or part of our business, subject to that party agreeing to handle personal information consistently with this policy. We require our service providers to protect personal information and only use it for the purposes we authorise. 4. Overseas disclosure Because we use cloud infrastructure and hosting providers located overseas, including in the United States, your personal information and Your Data may be stored or processed outside Australia. We take reasonable steps to ensure overseas recipients handle personal information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles, including relying on providers with recognised security and privacy standards. By using the App, you consent to this overseas storage and processing, to the extent such consent is required. If you have concerns about a particular jurisdiction your data may be processed in, contact us using the details below and we can discuss your options. 5. Security We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure — including access controls, encryption in transit, and restricted internal access to Your Data. No online service can guarantee absolute security, particularly during the App's current beta period, and we encourage you to use a strong, unique password and to keep your login details confidential. 6. Data retention and deletion We retain personal information and Your Data for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the App to you. If you close your account, we will retain Your Data for [insert period, e.g. 30 days] to allow you to request an export, after which we will delete or de-identify it, unless we are required by law to retain it for longer (for example, under tax or corporate record-keeping laws). Note that Australian tax law may separately require you to retain certain business records for a set period (currently five years) — exporting Your Data before deletion is your responsibility. 7. Access and correction You can request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you at any time. For most account information, you can update this directly in the App. For other requests, contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time. If we refuse a request, we will tell you why (unless the law prevents us from doing so) and how you can complain about that refusal. 8. Cookies and similar technologies The App uses cookies or similar technologies necessary for login sessions and basic functionality. [Insert here if you use any analytics or tracking tools, and name them / describe their purpose.] 9. Complaints If you have a concern about how we've handled your personal information, contact us using the details below. We will investigate and respond within a reasonable time. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au. 10. Changes to this policy We may update this policy from time to time, including as the App moves out of beta or as paid tiers are introduced. Material changes will be notified in the same way as changes to our Terms and Conditions. 11.
